Update June 2018Please note that this information might be out of date as we haven’t had time to check and rewrite it. To get the latest and best tourism information, please consider staying at Sari Inn where our manager Hamy would be happy to take care of you. Hamy worked for the Lombok Tourism commission for twenty years and drove for the former presidential family. He speaks good English and remains one of the top experts on the area.

One of the most beautiful works on nature is Mount Rinjani National Park. This area is made more sustainable by the Rinjani Trek Centre and Rinjani Information Centre under the guidance of the Rinjani Trek Management Board. The idea is to provide community development and tourism.

The Sasak Hill Trek is a two day and one night trek which will take visitors through the rice fields and up along Pegasingan Hill. As the day turns to night on the first evening, there will be camping at Bukit Batua with local musical entertainment and a spiritual blessing. The second day takes you through a tropical rainforest, through the Makam Sakan graves and a bath in the cool springs at Lendang Madang.

Those interested in flora and fauna will enjoy the Sembalun Wildflowers Walk. This is a one night, two day hike to Propok. This walk takes you through the land while being less challenging than the Sasak Hill Trek. You will get to know the grasslands, see farmers call their cows with salt and maybe even run into a few monkeys. The trip ends with a visit to some of the spiritual places and a traditional blessing from one of the Pemangku.

For a day trip, consider the Sajang Village and Waterfalls Walk. On this tour visitors meet the local farmers who specialize in coffee, vanilla and chocolate farming. After working with the farmers for a few hours, tours will head to the waterfalls and possibly sight some of the Ebony Leaf Monkeys that live in the area. The day will conclude with a strong cup of the freshly farmed coffee that you helped bring in.

The Senaru Panorama Walk is wonderful for novice hikers. The walk is led by local women and follows the Rinjani volcano ridge. This half day trip takes you through rice plantations, under a waterfall and through a rainforest. Learn the traditions and lifestyle of the locals from a local.
